Over the past few months we paired up with a group of students from St Ciaran’s College to complete an engineering project. Their mission? Follow a design brief and manufacture flower planters. The aim was to provide students with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the processes involved, from design brief to final product.
Students worked alongside Leigh (Operations Director) and our Engineering department to develop their skills in software modelling on Solidworks and to gain hands-on, practical experience during their tour around Nugent.
The result? Two different, innovative designs and students with advanced skills and techniques. Pictured are some of the proud students with their finished products.
Thanks to MEGA who set up this Project-based Learning initiative to engage local students; putting learned theory into practice.
This was valuable for students to see the various types of careers within the engineering process. To find out more about a career at Nugent, click the button below.
